The Rocketship Off-Road Tube Chassis by Wide Open Design represents the next evolution in rock bouncer performance. Built from the ground up to replace our previous Rock Bouncer X chassis, the Rocketship was designed after years of testing, racing, and refining the original Rocketship platform driven by Wes Kean. With each chassis built, improvements were made to suspension geometry, control layout, and overall packaging until we reached a design we are proud to offer as the best chassis we have ever produced.

Traditional rock bouncer chassis designs leave a lot on the table when it comes to suspension behavior, driver ergonomics, and overall balance. The Rocketship chassis rethinks all of that. From its ultra-low center of gravity and balanced suspension geometry to its cockpit style driver controls and optimized drivetrain placement, every detail was engineered to create a predictable, controllable buggy that performs on both brutal race courses and technical trails.

Tech Insight

The Rocketship chassis is designed around extremely low ride height without sacrificing suspension travel. At 22" of belly height and only 68" of roof height, it maintains one of the lowest centers of gravity available in a rock bouncer while still providing excellent obstacle clearance. This balance gives drivers exceptional stability during steep hill climbs and high speed racing sections.

Suspension geometry was developed to keep the buggy planted while climbing aggressive ledges and hill climbs. Combined with the trailing arm rear suspension and balanced front shock travel, the Rocketship chassis launches straight, climbs predictably, and remains extremely controllable in situations where traditional rock bouncer chassis can become unstable.
