At Wide Open Design, we love it when a customer challenges us with a unique vision. For this project, the goal was to build a rock bouncer featuring custom inset body panels on the sides. To pull off this aesthetic and give the rig a truly distinct, flowing look, standard straight door bars weren't going to cut it—we needed custom rolled tube work.
To make it happen, we broke in our brand-new Baileigh R-M55 Roll Bender.
From CAD to Reality
Before bending any steel, we loaded up our proven Rock Bouncer X chassis file in CAD. We stripped out the standard door bars and mocked up the new sweeping, rolled tube design. By adding the digital sheet metal, drivetrain, and interior dash to the model, we gave the customer a perfect 3D preview of the final aesthetic. Once we got the green light, it was time to hit the shop floor.
Master-Level Fabrication
You simply can't achieve these smooth, continuous curves without a high-quality roll bender. The Baileigh R-M55 allowed us to match our CAD radiuses perfectly, creating a seamless frame for the inset body panels while maintaining the structural integrity and aggressive stance you expect from a WOD build.
