Atlas II Transfer Cases for Rock Crawlers & Off-Road
Atlas II transfer cases are gear-driven, 2-speed transfer cases built for rock crawlers, trail rigs, buggies, and high-performance off-road vehicles where low-range gearing, drivetrain strength, and dependable power transfer matter. Wide Open Design offers Atlas II transfer cases in WOD-selected configurations built around the drivetrain combinations we commonly use in serious off-road builds.
Choose between 3.0:1 and 3.8:1 low-range ratios and Trail Series or G2 Pro Series configurations to match your vehicle's transmission gearing, axle ratio, tire size, horsepower, and intended use. The right transfer case ratio should provide enough reduction for controlled technical crawling without unnecessarily limiting wheel speed when the terrain opens up.
| Consideration | 3.0:1 Low Range | 3.8:1 Low Range |
|---|---|---|
| Low-Range Reduction | Moderate | Deeper |
| Wheel Speed in Low Range | Higher | Lower |
| Technical Crawling | Good control | Greater reduction and control |
| Faster Trail Sections | More low-range wheel speed | Reaches higher engine RPM sooner |
| Transmission Gearing | Works well when sufficient reduction already exists | Useful when additional crawl reduction is needed |
| Axle Ratio | Must be considered as part of total gearing | Must be considered as part of total gearing |
| Best Selection Based On | Transmission, axle gears, tires and use | Transmission, axle gears, tires and use |
