With a 14.5-ton breaking strength, the ARB Soft Connect Shackle is designed to act as a controlled weak link in a recovery system—breaking before rated metal components to help eliminate dangerous flying projectiles. The UHMWPE rope is fully encased in a high-tensile braided protective shield, greatly improving resistance to cuts, abrasion, UV exposure, and water.

The shackle uses a ball-knot locking system, where the loop tightens securely around the knot under load and cannot release during recovery. Its flexible design allows easy attachment to most rated recovery points and straps, while remaining lightweight, quiet, and easy to store.

Each shackle includes a mesh and nylon drawstring storage bag, allowing proper drying after use and keeping your recovery kit organized and protected.

Tech Insight

1. What is a soft shackle and how does it work?

A soft shackle is a lightweight recovery connector made from high-strength synthetic rope instead of steel. The ARB Soft Connect Shackle uses a ball-knot locking system that tightens under load, creating a secure connection point for recovery straps, winch lines, and rated recovery points without the weight and hazards associated with metal shackles.

2. Why choose a soft shackle instead of a steel D-ring shackle?

Soft shackles are significantly lighter, easier to handle, and safer during recovery operations. If a recovery system fails, a synthetic soft shackle stores less kinetic energy than a steel shackle, helping reduce the risk of dangerous flying metal components. They also won't rust, rattle, or damage painted surfaces.

3. What vehicles can use the ARB 14.5-ton Soft Connect Shackle?

This soft shackle is designed for vehicles up to 3.5T GVM and works well on Jeeps, trucks, overland vehicles, UTVs, rock crawlers, trail rigs, and off-road race vehicles. Always ensure every recovery component in the system is properly rated and matched to the recovery load.

4. Can the ARB soft shackle be used with recovery straps and winch lines?

Yes. The ARB Soft Connect Shackle is designed to connect recovery straps, kinetic recovery ropes, tree savers, winch extensions, and other recovery gear to rated recovery points. Its flexible design makes it easier to connect in tight spaces where traditional steel shackles may be difficult to install.

5. How should I inspect and maintain a synthetic recovery shackle?

Inspect the shackle before and after every recovery for cuts, abrasion, excessive wear, melted fibers, or contamination. After use, clean dirt and debris from the rope and allow it to dry completely before storing it in the included breathable mesh storage bag. Regular inspection helps ensure maximum safety and service life.
