The WOD HydroBoost Brake Kit with Wilwood Master Cylinder is engineered to deliver powerful, consistent braking performance for off-road vehicles running large tires, heavy axles, and demanding suspension systems. By using hydraulic pressure from your power steering pump instead of engine vacuum, this HydroBoost system provides significantly more brake assist than traditional vacuum boosters—making it an ideal upgrade for LS swaps, rock crawlers, Ultra4 race cars, and custom tube chassis builds.

Each kit includes a lightweight Wilwood 1-1/8" bore aluminum master cylinder, an in-house modified HydroBoost unit with -8 AN flow and return fittings, a universal mounting bracket, and a fully adjustable pedal assembly. The result is a compact, high-performance braking package that improves pedal feel, simplifies plumbing, reduces weight, and provides reliable stopping power in the harshest off-road conditions.

Includes:

  • Wilwood Aluminum Master Cylinder (1-1/8" Bore)
  • Brake Line Fittings
  • WOD Modified HydroBoost Unit with -8 AN Flow & Return Fittings
  • Universal Steel Mounting Bracket
  • Fabricated Adjustable Pedal Assembly

FAQ

What is HydroBoost?

HydroBoost uses hydraulic pressure from the power steering pump to provide brake assist instead of engine vacuum. This results in greater braking force and consistent pedal feel, especially on vehicles with large tires or low engine vacuum.

Why is HydroBoost better than a vacuum booster?

Vacuum boosters depend on engine vacuum, which can be limited on engines with aggressive camshafts or under heavy throttle. HydroBoost maintains strong brake assist regardless of engine vacuum, making it the preferred choice for off-road and high-performance applications.

Why use a Wilwood master cylinder?

The lightweight aluminum Wilwood master cylinder weighs approximately 75% less than many factory cast-iron units while providing excellent pedal feel, flexible plumbing with dual outlet ports, and reliable performance in custom chassis builds.

Who should use this kit?

This kit is ideal for vehicles running 40-inch or larger tires, one-ton axles, full hydraulic steering, LS engine swaps, Ultra4 race cars, rock bouncers, trail rigs, and other heavy off-road vehicles that require increased braking performance.

Does this require a power steering pump?

Yes. HydroBoost systems rely on hydraulic pressure from the power steering pump to generate brake assist. Proper plumbing, pump output, and steering system configuration are critical for optimal performance.
