The WOD Universal Tilt Steering Column was designed specifically for custom vehicle builders who need complete control over steering wheel placement, driving position, and steering system layout. This column is built as a universal weld-in steering solution that allows the installer to set the steering wheel angle, column length, and in/out placement around the vehicle, driver position, dash layout, seat location, and steering system being used. With approximately 40 degrees of tilt adjustment and weld-ready mounting tabs, the final fitment is completely determined by the builder and vehicle requirements.

Unlike bulky OEM steering columns, the WOD steering column can be used as a standard tilt steering column or configured with the included orbital valve mount for full hydraulic steering applications. Bronze bushings provide smooth operation and long service life, while the adjustable gas shock helps maintain steering position and allows the driver to fine tune steering wheel angle for comfort and control. Whether you're building a rock bouncer, Ultra4 car, tube chassis Jeep, race car, drift car, or custom rig, this universal steering column gives you the flexibility to position the steering wheel exactly where you need it.

Included:

  • (1) WOD Universal Adjustable Tilt Steering Column Assembly
  • Adjustable Gas Shock
  • (1) Weld-In Orbital Valve Mount
  • Weld-Ready Side Mounting Tabs

Specifications
  • Fit: Universal weld-in tilt steering column for off-road, rock crawler, buggy, race chassis, and custom vehicle use
  • Positioning: Adjustable gas shock clamp allows tilt position tuning
  • Bushings: Bronze
  • Mounting Tabs: Unwelded for application-specific fitment
  • Mount Style: Universal Weld-In
  • Column Tube Length: 13.15" (column tube can be shortened for custom placement)
  • Steering Shaft Length: 15.75" (steering shaft can be shortened during installation)
  • Shaft Adjustment Range: 4" extension
  • Tilt Adjustment: Approximately 40º
  • Orbital Mount Included: Yes (can be used with or without the orbital valve mount)
  • Note: Included mount allows the orbital valve to be tied directly into the tilt column assembly

Compatible With

  • PSC 4.75" Orbital Valve with a 3/4"-30 spline stem (PSC Part Number FHC04S)

Fitment
  • Universal fit for custom vehicle applications
  • Ideal for rock crawlers, rock bouncers, trail rigs, off-road race cars, tube chassis builds, race cars, drag race cars, street cars, drift cars, show cars and custom projects

Install Instructions:

  • Shorten the column tube and main shaft as needed to set the steering wheel in/out location.
  • Locate the side tabs where they best fit the vehicle, then weld them to the shaft/column assembly after final placement is confirmed.
  • When using the orbital valve mount, install and mock up the orbital valve before final welding.
  • Drill a 1/4" hole through the U-joint and column connection, then secure with a 1/4" bolt and lock nut.
  • Cycle the column through its full tilt range before final welding to confirm the U-joint rotates freely with no binding.
  • Remove the orbital valve before welding the orbital mount plate into place.
  • Allow welded components to cool before reinstalling the orbital valve.

Installation Notes:

  • Installer must cut, fit, drill, bolt, and weld components as required.
  • Final steering wheel position is determined during installation.
  • Steering shaft length can be adjusted to fit vehicle requirements.
  • Orbital valve location and mounting tab placement are determined by the builder.
  • Can be installed with or without the included orbital valve mount.

Installation Notes

What makes the WOD Adjustable Tilt Steering Column different from an OEM steering column?

Unlike factory steering columns that are designed for a specific vehicle, the WOD Adjustable Tilt Steering Column is a universal weld-in system built for custom chassis applications. The builder determines the final steering wheel position, column angle, shaft length, and mounting location, making it ideal for rock crawlers, race cars, buggies, tube chassis Jeeps, and custom fabrication projects.

Can this steering column be used with hydraulic steering systems?

Yes. The WOD Tilt Steering Column includes a weld-in orbital valve mount designed to work with compatible hydraulic steering orbitals, including the PSC 4.75" orbital valve with a 3/4"-30 spline stem. Builders can also choose to install the column without the orbital mount if hydraulic steering is not being used.

How much adjustment does the steering column offer?

The steering column provides approximately 40 degrees of tilt adjustment and features a gas shock-assisted mechanism to help maintain steering wheel position. The steering shaft can also extend up to 4 inches, allowing builders to fine-tune steering wheel placement for driver comfort and vehicle packaging requirements.

What types of vehicles can use this steering column?

This universal steering column is commonly used in rock bouncers, Ultra4 race cars, trail rigs, tube chassis Jeeps, custom buggies, drag cars, drift cars, race cars, show cars, and one-off fabrication projects. Because the mounting tabs are left unwelded, the column can be adapted to a wide variety of vehicle layouts.

Can I shorten the steering column during installation?

Yes. Both the column tube and steering shaft can be trimmed during installation to achieve the desired steering wheel position. This flexibility allows builders to package the steering system around seats, dashboards, roll cages, orbital valves, and driver ergonomics while maintaining proper steering geometry.
