Wide Open Design’s Universal Steering Column Kit makes steering wheel placement simple and flexible in custom builds. Designed for off-road buggies, rock crawlers, and tube chassis rigs, this kit allows you to mount the steering control unit outside of the passenger compartment in a safer location, keeping hot hydraulic fluid away from occupants.

You position the steering wheel exactly where it’s comfortable, then add your support mounts as needed. This gives you full freedom in cockpit layout while maintaining a strong, reliable steering shaft assembly.

Built from heavy duty DOM tubing with a DOM inner shaft and UHMW support bushings, this kit provides smooth operation and long term durability in harsh off-road environments.

Tech Insight

Relocating the steering control unit outside the passenger compartment improves safety and simplifies hydraulic routing in full hydro setups. Using DOM tubing and UHMW bushings ensures durability while minimizing friction and shaft play.

Proper support spacing and alignment during installation will greatly affect steering feel and longevity.
