The Moroso 3-Quart Oil Accumulator helps protect your engine from one of the most common causes of catastrophic engine damage—momentary oil pressure loss. It stores a pressurized reserve of engine oil and instantly delivers it back to the engine during hard acceleration, steep climbs, side hills, braking, or high-speed cornering when the oil pickup becomes uncovered. It can also be used to pre-oil the engine before startup, greatly reducing the dry starts responsible for much of an engine's long-term wear.

Ideal for V8 engines, high-performance inline sixes, rock crawlers, Ultra4 race cars, prerunners, drag cars, road race vehicles, and other high-performance applications, this 3-quart accumulator features a heavy-wall aluminum cylinder, billet aluminum floating piston, integrated pressure gauge, and manual ball valve. Whether you're protecting an expensive race engine or adding insurance to a trail rig, an oil accumulator is one of the smartest upgrades you can make.

Tech Insight

What does an oil accumulator do?

An oil accumulator stores a pressurized reserve of engine oil and automatically supplies it whenever oil pressure drops, helping protect bearings, camshafts, lifters, and other critical engine components from oil starvation.

Does an oil accumulator increase oil capacity?

Yes. A 3-quart accumulator adds approximately three additional quarts of oil capacity to the engine's lubrication system.

Will this prevent oil starvation off-road?

It significantly reduces the effects of temporary oil starvation caused by steep climbs, side hills, rock crawling, hard acceleration, braking, and cornering. While it is not a replacement for a properly designed oil pan, it provides an important layer of protection during momentary oil pickup loss.

Can I pre-oil my engine before startup?

Yes. Opening the manual ball valve before cranking allows the accumulator to pressurize the engine with stored oil, greatly reducing dry-start wear.

Can the accumulator be mounted horizontally?

Yes. The billet floating piston design allows the accumulator to operate correctly when mounted horizontally, vertically, or in virtually any orientation.

What engines is the 3-quart model recommended for?

  • Small Block V8 engines
  • Big Block V8 engines
  • GM LS engines
  • Mopar HEMI engines
  • Ford Modular V8 engines
  • High-performance inline six-cylinder engines
  • Competition and off-road racing engines

Do I need special oil lines?

Yes. Most installations use -10AN (5/8") high-pressure oil hose rated for at least 400 PSI to safely handle engine oil pressure.

Is an electric valve required?

No. This model includes a manual ball valve. Optional electric or pressure-activated valves are available separately for automatic pre-oiling and operation.
