Griffin Large Dual-Pass Fluid Cooler with 12" SPAL Fan
CXU-00001
The Griffin Large Dual-Pass Fluid Cooler with 12" SPAL Fan is engineered for high-horsepower vehicles and severe-duty applications where fluid temperature control is critical. Built with a heavy-duty extruded aluminum tube-and-fin core, the dual-pass design increases fluid dwell time inside the cooler to maximize heat rejection for transmission fluid, engine oil, differential fluid, and power steering systems.
An integrated aluminum shroud and high-output 12" SPAL electric fan provide exceptional airflow across the entire cooling surface, maintaining consistent fluid temperatures during slow-speed rock crawling, endurance racing, Ultra4 competition, desert racing, towing, and other high-load conditions where natural airflow is limited.
Two 1/2" NPT female ports allow either side to be used as the inlet or outlet, making this cooler easy to integrate into custom plumbing layouts.
Includes:
- (1) Griffin Dual-Pass Extruded Aluminum Fluid Cooler
- (1) Integrated Aluminum Fan Shroud
- (1) 12" SPAL Electric Fan
- Mounting Brackets
Note: Hose fittings, adapters, wiring, relays, thermostatic switches, and fluid plumbing components are sold separately.

FAQ
Why choose a larger fluid cooler?
Higher horsepower, larger tires, heavier vehicles, and extended low-speed operation generate significantly more heat than standard cooling systems can dissipate. A larger cooler increases both fluid capacity and cooling surface area, helping maintain safe operating temperatures under sustained load.
Why use a dual-pass core?
The dual-pass design forces fluid to travel through the cooler twice before exiting, increasing dwell time and improving heat transfer compared to similarly sized single-pass coolers.
Why is the SPAL fan important?
During rock crawling, staging, towing, or technical trail driving, vehicle speed often isn't high enough to move sufficient air through the cooler. The 12" high-output SPAL fan provides up to 1,636 CFM of airflow to maintain consistent cooling regardless of vehicle speed.
What fluids can this cooler be used with?
This cooler is commonly used for automatic transmission fluid, engine oil, differential fluid, power steering fluid, and other hydraulic systems when installed with compatible fittings, hoses, and pressure ratings.
How should the cooler be mounted?
Mount the cooler where the fan can pull or push unrestricted airflow across the core while protecting it from rocks, debris, and excessive exhaust heat. Proper airflow around both sides of the cooler is essential for maximum cooling performance.
When is this cooler recommended over the smaller Griffin cooler?
This larger Griffin cooler is recommended for Ultra4 race cars, rock bouncers, desert race vehicles, high-horsepower LS swaps, heavy towing applications, and any vehicle that experiences sustained high fluid temperatures. The additional cooling capacity helps maintain consistent performance under the most demanding operating conditions.
