The O2 Sensor Bung, available in either mild steel or stainless steel, is designed for adding an oxygen sensor port to your exhaust system during fabrication or modification. Built from weldable steel, this bung integrates easily into custom exhaust systems for performance, off-road, street, and racing applications.

Featuring the industry-standard M18 x 1.5 thread, this bung is compatible with most factory and aftermarket oxygen sensors. It can also be used with an O2 sensor bung plug to seal the port whenever a sensor is not installed.

Includes:

  • (1) Mild Steel or Stainless Steel O2 Sensor Weld-In Bung

Tech Insight

1. What size O2 sensor fits this bung?

This O2 sensor bung uses the industry-standard M18 x 1.5 thread, making it compatible with most factory and aftermarket oxygen sensors used on LS engines, LT engines, performance vehicles, race cars, trucks, and custom exhaust systems.

2. Where should an O2 sensor bung be installed?

For accurate readings, O2 sensor bungs are typically welded into the exhaust collector or primary exhaust tubing where exhaust flow from the cylinders can be properly sampled. Sensor placement depends on whether the sensor is used for engine management, EFI tuning, emissions monitoring, or wideband air/fuel ratio measurement.

3. Should I choose a mild steel or stainless steel bung?

A mild steel bung is ideal for welding into mild steel exhaust tubing. Stainless steel bungs are recommended for stainless exhaust systems because they provide superior corrosion resistance and eliminate dissimilar-metal welding concerns.

4. Can this bung be used with wideband O2 sensors?

Yes. Most aftermarket wideband oxygen sensors also use the standard M18 x 1.5 thread, making this bung perfect for EFI tuning, engine management systems, dyno tuning, and performance monitoring.

5. What if I remove the O2 sensor later?

If an oxygen sensor is no longer needed, simply install a compatible M18 x 1.5 O2 sensor bung plug to create a leak-free seal without removing the bung from the exhaust system.
