Crane Axle Dana 60 Kingpin Spring Eliminator Kit w/ Lower Kingpin Bearings
CASE60-BR
The Crane Axle Basic Dana 60 Kingpin Spring Eliminator Kit with Bearings replaces the factory kingpin spring preload system with heavy-durometer bushings designed to maintain more consistent knuckle preload. Manufactured by Crane Axle for OEM and aftermarket Dana 60 kingpin front axles, this kit helps reduce unwanted knuckle movement in vehicles running oversized tires, beadlocks, high-steer systems, crossover steering, or hydraulic-assist steering.
Along with the spring eliminator bushings and adjustment shims, the kit includes lower kingpin bearings, races, and upper and lower seals to refresh the critical wear components inside both knuckle assemblies. The result is tighter steering response, reduced steering wander, and improved durability for street-driven trucks, trail rigs, rock crawlers, and other heavy-duty Dana 60 applications.
Includes:
- (2) Heavy-Durometer Kingpin Bushings
- (4) Preload Adjustment Shims
- (2) Kingpin Caps
- (2) Lower Kingpin Bearings
- (2) Lower Kingpin Bearing Races
- (2) Lower Kingpin Seals
- (2) Upper Kingpin Seals
Note: Builders who need white kingpin bushings should use the Crane Axle Premium Dana 60 Kingpin Spring Eliminator Kit with Bearings.

Fitment Notes
- Fits kingpin-style Dana 60 front steering axles only.
- Compatible with OEM and aftermarket Dana 60 kingpin knuckles.
- Works with high-steer and crossover steering systems.
- Vehicle year, make, and model alone do not guarantee axle fitment because axle assemblies may have been replaced or swapped.
- Verify that the axle uses kingpin knuckles rather than ball joints before ordering.
Tech Insight
1. What does a Dana 60 kingpin spring eliminator do?
A spring eliminator replaces the factory upper kingpin spring with a firmer bushing-based preload system. This helps control movement between the kingpin and knuckle more consistently under steering load.
2. Can this kit help reduce steering slop or death wobble?
It can help when worn kingpin springs, bushings, bearings, or seals are contributing to excess knuckle movement. Death wobble can also be caused by worn steering joints, wheel bearings, tire balance, alignment, track bar movement, or other chassis problems, so the complete steering system should be inspected.
3. How are the included shims used?
The shims are used to adjust upper kingpin preload. Adding or removing shim thickness changes how firmly the bushing loads the knuckle, allowing the installer to tune steering resistance and reduce unwanted movement.
4. Why are lower kingpin bearings and races included?
The lower bearing supports a large portion of the vehicle and steering load at the knuckle. Wear in the bearing or race can create looseness even after the upper spring system is replaced, so rebuilding both areas provides a more complete repair.
5. Does this kit fit ball-joint Dana 60 axles?
No. This kit is designed specifically for Dana 60 front axles that use upper kingpins and lower kingpin bearings. Ball-joint Dana 60 axles use a different knuckle and pivot design.
