Crane Axle Ford Dana 60 Kingpin Interlocking Knuckle Kit
CA01012
The Crane Axle Ford Dana 60 Kingpin Knuckle Kit is engineered to strengthen and stabilize the steering system on Ford Kingpin Dana 60 front axles used in hardcore rock crawlers, Ultra4 cars, and heavy off-road trail rigs. Designed around Ford Dana 60 kingpin geometry, this system combines Crane’s interlocking keyed high steer arm design with massive 8620 chromoly outer knuckles to create a steering platform capable of handling large tires, hydraulic assist steering, and repeated high-load impacts without relying solely on steering arm studs and bolt clamping force.
Unlike traditional cast steering knuckles where steering loads are concentrated directly into the mounting hardware, Crane's interlocking system transfers steering forces through keyed engagement surfaces built into the knuckle itself. This dramatically reduces fastener stress while improving steering precision, rigidity, and long-term durability in abusive off-road environments. All major components are cast and machined in the USA from weldable 8620 chromoly steel for improved strength, fatigue resistance, and serviceability.

Tech Insight
Traditional steering arm systems place the majority of steering load directly on the mounting studs and fasteners. In extreme off-road applications running large tires and hydraulic assist steering, this can lead to fastener movement, steering slop, or hardware failure over time.
The Crane Axle interlocking system uses a precision-machined keyed interface between the steering arm and knuckle to transfer steering force into the knuckle body itself rather than relying entirely on bolt clamping force. Combined with 8620 chromoly construction, this creates a more stable steering assembly capable of handling high shock loads and repeated off-road abuse while maintaining tighter steering geometry.
