Yukon GM 8.5" & 8.6" Steel Spool - 30-Spline, 2.73 & Up Gear Ratios
YUKYP FSGM8.5-30
This 30-spline steel spool for GM 8.5" and 8.6" rear axles is designed to deliver maximum strength and full-time traction in drag racing, mud trucks, and dedicated trail rigs where traction and simplicity are critical.. By replacing the factory differential carrier, it permanently locks both axle shafts together, ensuring equal torque delivery to both wheels under all conditions.
Commonly found in GM trucks, SUVs, and performance cars, the 8.5" and 8.6" axles, this spool is engineered to handle the increased load demands of these platforms when properly set up with C-clip eliminators, making it a reliable upgrade for high-performance and extreme-use builds.

Tech Insight
GM 8.5" and 8.6" axles are widely used due to their strength and availability, but their factory C-clip axle retention system can become a weak point under extreme loads. When converting to a spool, eliminating differential action increases stress on axle shafts and retention systems.
For this reason, C-clip eliminators are required to safely retain the axles when running a spool. Once properly set up, the combination of a spool and upgraded retention system transforms these axles into a much stronger, more reliable platform for racing and off-road abuse.
