Crane Axle Front Unit Bearing Wilwood 6 Piston Lightweight Brake Kit
CA01039N6P
The Crane Axle Front Unit Bearing Wilwood 6 Piston Lightweight Brake Kit is designed for high-performance off-road and fabricated chassis applications using 2005+ Ford Super Duty unit bearings. Built around Wilwood forged billet 6-piston calipers and large diameter vented rotors, this system improves braking performance while reducing unsprung weight and rotating mass compared to heavier OEM-style brake assemblies.
Engineered specifically for Crane Axle Magnum Knuckle and Super Duty unit bearing adapter systems, this bolt-on package combines lightweight 6061-T6 aluminum rotor hats with laser-cut caliper brackets for accurate caliper alignment and improved serviceability. The reduction in rotating mass helps improve suspension response and steering feel while maintaining the clamping force needed for large tires, high-horsepower drivetrains, and aggressive off-road use.

Tech Insight
Reducing unsprung weight is critical in high-speed off-road suspension systems because lighter wheel-end components allow the suspension to react more quickly to terrain changes. Heavy brake assemblies increase rotational inertia and place additional demand on suspension damping and steering components.
This brake system combines forged billet aluminum calipers with lightweight aluminum rotor hats to reduce wheel-end mass while maintaining high clamping force and heat management. The 13.5" vented rotors increase braking leverage and thermal capacity, helping maintain consistent brake performance during repeated hard braking events commonly encountered in rock racing, desert use, and high-horsepower off-road applications.
