The Winters Chrysler TorqueFlite 904 / 999 Shift Linkage Kit 2795 connects a Winters cable-operated shifter to the shift mechanism on Chrysler TorqueFlite 904 and 999 automatic transmissions. These transmissions may also be identified as the A904, A999, TF6, 30RH, or 32RH, depending on the year and application.

The linkage kit gives the shifter cable the correct mounting point and connects it to the transmission shift lever so movement at the shifter properly moves the transmission from Park through the forward gears. Using the correct TorqueFlite 904/999 linkage helps keep the cable aligned and gives you the adjustment needed to make sure each shifter position matches the corresponding gear at the transmission.

Use Kit 2795 when installing a compatible Winters cable shifter on a TorqueFlite 904/999 transmission or when replacing missing, worn, or damaged transmission-side linkage components.

Fitment

Designed For:

  • Chrysler TorqueFlite 904 / A904 Automatic Transmissions
  • Chrysler TorqueFlite 999 / A999 Automatic Transmissions
  • Compatible TF6 Applications
  • Compatible 30RH / 32RH Applications Using the Corresponding TorqueFlite 904/999 Architecture
  • Compatible Winters Cable-Operated Shifter Installations

Fitment Notes:

  • This is a transmission-specific linkage kit for the TorqueFlite 904/999 family.
  • Do not confuse the 904/999 linkage with linkage designed for the larger TorqueFlite 727 transmission.
  • The linkage arm and cable bracket position the Winters shifter cable correctly at the transmission.
  • Verify your transmission model before ordering, particularly when working with later transmissions identified as 30RH or 32RH.
  • Final cable adjustment is required after installation to ensure the shifter and transmission gear positions match.

FAQ

Why does the TorqueFlite 904/999 need its own linkage kit?

The Winters shifter may look similar across several transmission applications, but the parts at the transmission are not universal. The linkage arm and cable bracket have to position the cable correctly for the transmission being used. Kit 2795 is designed specifically around the TorqueFlite 904/999 family.

Are the TF904, A904, and 30RH the same transmission?

These names are associated with the same general TorqueFlite transmission family but were used during different periods and applications. The 904 is commonly referred to as the TF904 or A904, while later versions may be identified as the 30RH. The heavier-duty 999 version may similarly be identified as the A999 or 32RH. Always verify the actual transmission before ordering parts.

Will this linkage kit fit a TorqueFlite 727?

No. The TorqueFlite 727 is a different transmission platform. Use the Winters linkage kit specified for the 727 rather than trying to adapt the 904/999 linkage components.

Why does linkage adjustment matter?

The shifter and transmission need to agree on where each gear is located. If the cable adjustment is too far in either direction, the shifter may reach its gate before the transmission has fully reached the intended gear. Correct adjustment allows the transmission to move through its complete range from Park through the forward gears.

How is the linkage adjusted?

The Winters linkage uses an adjustable quick-disconnect and ball-joint arrangement at the transmission. Screwing the quick-disconnect in or out changes the linkage adjustment. After installation, move the shifter through the complete gear range and verify that each shifter position corresponds with full engagement at the transmission.

Can Kit 2795 be used as replacement linkage hardware?

Yes. In addition to a new Winters shifter installation, the kit can be used when the original transmission-side linkage, cable bracket, or related mounting hardware has been lost, damaged, or worn.
