WC02015
The Wide Open Design JC Chassis for Jeep CJ and YJ is engineered to be a true crossover between a modified Jeep trail rig and a full tube buggy. It delivers the comfort and recognizable style of a full-body Jeep while providing the strength, suspension capability, and durability of a purpose-built off-road chassis.
Designed with performance, function, safety, and reliability in mind, the JC chassis is constructed using 1.75" DOM tubing in both .120 and .188 wall thicknesses. High-impact areas are reinforced with thicker tubing to improve durability while keeping the overall chassis weight manageable. Builders gain the advantages of a strong tube chassis while still retaining the ability to run a Jeep CJ or YJ body.
The chassis can be purchased as a bare platform or configured with several available options, all of which are fully welded into place before delivery. This ensures a clean, professional finish and a strong foundation for your build.

The JC chassis platform was developed for builders who want more strength and capability than a traditional Jeep frame while still maintaining the comfort and recognizable look of a Jeep-based trail rig. By integrating DOM tubing throughout the chassis structure, the JC significantly increases rigidity and durability compared to factory frames.
Strategic use of .188 wall tubing in high-impact areas helps protect the chassis from dents and structural damage during aggressive trail use. Replaceable rock sliders protect the sides of the vehicle and can easily be replaced if they become damaged over time.
The chassis also features removable drivetrain crossmembers connected using tube flange sets, allowing drivetrain components to be installed or removed much more easily during the build or future maintenance.
The rear chassis area provides room to install a 15-gallon fuel cell along with a fabricated toolbox or cooler, making the platform well suited for both extreme rock crawling and longer trail rides.
