PSC Single Ended Hydraulic Steering Cylinder Kit w/ Type II Pump (‘80+ GM V8)
FHK200TC
The PSC Full Hydraulic Steering Conversion Kit is designed for rock crawlers, Ultra4 cars, rock bouncers, rear steer buggies, and custom off-road vehicles that require maximum steering power and reliability. Built around PSC's proven Type II power steering pump, 160cc orbital valve, and heavy-duty SC2205K steering cylinder, this system delivers the hydraulic force needed to confidently turn 40", 42", and 44" tires in the harshest off-road conditions.
Unlike conventional steering systems that rely on a steering box and mechanical linkage, full hydraulic steering eliminates the steering box entirely. Steering input is transferred through a hydraulic orbital valve that directs fluid to the steering cylinder, allowing precise steering control even when tires are wedged into rocks, bound against obstacles, or carrying the weight of a front-locked axle.
Whether you're building a custom tube chassis, upgrading a rock crawler, converting a buggy to rear steer, or installing a Dana 60 hydraulic steering system, this PSC kit provides the components serious builders trust.

Tech Insight
What Is Full Hydraulic Steering?
Full hydraulic steering removes the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and axle. Instead of a steering box moving a drag link, the steering wheel controls an orbital valve that directs hydraulic fluid to a steering cylinder mounted on the axle. The cylinder then turns the tires using hydraulic force.
Why Do Rock Crawlers Use Full Hydraulic Steering?
When running 40"+ tires and locked axles, steering loads can exceed what traditional steering boxes can reliably handle. Full hydro systems allow the driver to steer confidently when:
- Tires are wedged in rocks
- Front lockers are engaged
- Vehicle weight is shifted onto one tire
- Suspension is fully articulated
Why Use a 160cc Orbital?
The 160cc orbital offers an excellent balance between steering speed and steering control. This size is commonly used on rock crawlers, trail buggies, Ultra4 cars, and rock bouncers where predictable steering response is critical.
Why Is the Type II Pump Popular?
PSC's Type II pump is one of the most widely used pumps in off-road motorsports because it delivers consistent pressure and flow while maintaining reliability under severe steering loads.
What size tires is this kit designed for?
This system is recommended for vehicles running 40" tires and larger, including 42", 43", and 44" tire combinations.
Can I use this on a Dana 60?
Yes. This kit is commonly used on Dana 60 front axle builds and custom axle applications.
Is full hydraulic steering better than hydraulic assist?
For dedicated off-road vehicles with very large tires, full hydraulic steering provides more steering power and eliminates many of the limitations of steering boxes and drag links.
Is this legal for street use?
No. Full hydraulic steering systems are intended for dedicated off-road vehicles and are not DOT legal for highway use.
Can this be used on a rear steer buggy?
Yes. PSC full hydraulic steering systems are commonly used in both front steer and rear steer applications.
Does installation require fabrication?
Most custom axle and buggy applications require welding, bracket fabrication, and steering cylinder mounting.
