The Holley GM LS Swap Oil Pan Kit is designed to solve one of the most common problems in an LS conversion: getting the engine low enough in the chassis without the factory oil pan interfering with the crossmember, steering, or ground clearance. Manufactured by Holley, the 302-1 uses a compact rear-sump design with OE-style sealing and mounting features for GM Gen III/IV LS engines.

The cast aluminum pan maintains factory-style oil filter mounting, oil cooler provisions, bellhousing attachment points, and structural rigidity while providing improved chassis clearance for classic GM cars, trucks, hot rods, and custom LS swap projects. The kit includes the pickup tube, sump baffle, drain plug, oil filter stud, and oil passage cover needed to complete the installation.

Includes:

  • (1) Holley LS Swap Cast Aluminum Oil Pan
  • Sump Baffle
  • Oil Pickup Tube
  • Sump / Drain Plug
  • Oil Filter Stud
  • Oil Passage Cover

Note: Dipstick and tube are not included.

Fitment Notes

  • Designed primarily for GM cars, trucks, muscle cars, hot rods, and custom vehicles using a traditional rear-sump LS swap layout.
  • Maximum crankshaft stroke is 4.25".
  • Engine position may need to be adjusted up, down, forward, or rearward for crossmember and steering linkage clearance depending on chassis and steering configuration.
  • Not compatible with GM G-Body applications. Use Holley P/N 302-2 for G-Body swaps.
  • Requires Holley P/N 302-15 dipstick and tube kit or compatible LS3 dipstick GM P/N 12669528 and tube GM P/N 12625031.
  • Compatible oil filters include AC Delco PF48 / PF48E, Mobil 1 M1-113, Wix 57060, K&N HP-1017, or equivalent.

Tech Insight

1. Why do I need a swap-specific oil pan for an LS conversion?

Factory LS oil pans were designed around the original vehicle chassis and often interfere with older crossmembers, steering linkage, or ground clearance. A swap pan changes the sump shape and depth to make packaging the LS engine in a different chassis much easier.

2. How much oil does the Holley 302-1 hold?

The sump capacity is 5.5 quarts. Total system capacity with a typical stock-style oil filter is approximately 6 quarts.

3. Does this oil pan include the pickup tube?

Yes. The kit includes the matched oil pickup tube along with the sump baffle, drain plug, oil filter stud, and oil passage cover.

4. Will this fit a GM G-Body LS swap?

No. Holley specifically recommends P/N 302-2 for G-Body applications because the 302-1 does not provide the correct chassis clearance.

5. Does changing the oil pan guarantee chassis clearance?

No. The swap pan provides significantly improved chassis and ground clearance, but final fitment still depends on engine mount position, crossmember design, steering linkage, suspension, and chassis configuration. Always cycle and verify clearance before finalizing the engine position.
