Radflo 2.5 Bypass Shock w/ Piggyback Reservoir - 2-Tube, 7/8" Shaft
6BP-201-00
The Radflo 2.5" Adjustable Off-Road Bypass Shock with Piggyback Reservoir is designed for builders who demand maximum suspension tuning and control in extreme off-road environments. Commonly used on rock crawlers, rock bouncers, Ultra4 cars, desert trucks, trail buggies, and custom long-travel suspension systems, this performance suspension shock combines velocity-sensitive internal valving with position-sensitive external bypass tubes to provide precise damping throughout the entire suspension cycle. The result is improved traction, greater stability, better ride quality, and increased bottom-out resistance across rocks, whoops, jumps, and rough terrain.
Unlike conventional off-road shocks that provide the same damping characteristics throughout the stroke, this adjustable bypass shock allows suspension tuning at specific points in the travel range. The dual external bypass tubes help create a softer ride during normal suspension movement while progressively increasing control near full compression and extension. Combined with a large 2.5" shock body, piggyback reservoir, 7/8" Nitro Steel® shaft, and Radflo's exclusive Freeflo® Racing Piston technology, this shock delivers consistent damping performance during high-speed desert racing, technical rock crawling, and aggressive off-road driving. Every shock is custom valved to match your vehicle weight, suspension geometry, and intended use.

Tech Insight
What is a bypass shock and how is it different from a standard shock?
A bypass shock uses external bypass tubes to control damping at different points throughout the suspension travel. This allows the shock to provide a softer ride during normal movement while increasing control and bottom-out resistance near the end of the stroke.
What is the advantage of a piggyback reservoir?
A piggyback reservoir increases oil volume and cooling capacity, helping maintain consistent shock performance during extended off-road use. It also eliminates external reservoir hoses for a cleaner, more compact installation.
Are bypass shocks good for rock crawling?
Yes. Adjustable bypass shocks are commonly used on rock crawler suspension systems because they improve traction, vehicle stability, and suspension control over technical terrain while maintaining ride quality.
Can these shocks be used for desert racing and high-speed off-road driving?
Absolutely. The combination of velocity-sensitive valving, external bypass tuning, and increased fluid capacity makes these shocks ideal for desert racing, Ultra4 competition, rock bouncing, and aggressive off-road applications.
Do bypass shocks replace coilovers?
No. In most high-performance off-road suspension systems, bypass shocks are used alongside coilover shocks. The coilover supports vehicle weight while the bypass shock fine-tunes suspension damping and control throughout the travel range.
