Rambler G4 50W GMRS Mobile Radio - Rugged Radios
G4
The Rugged Radios Rambler G4 50W GMRS Mobile Radio provides vehicle-to-vehicle communication for trail rides, overland trips, and off-road travel in enclosed-cab vehicles. It gives drivers a mounted radio and hand microphone for coordinating turns, obstacles, stops, and group movement. The easy-to-read display, programmable preset buttons, and adjustable controls help keep commonly used functions accessible from the driver’s seat.
The G4 combines Rugged’s AMPLIFY 2.0 Mitsubishi transmit amplifier with an RFI-reflective aluminum chassis and RIDEui menu system. A supplied universal U-bracket supports conventional mounting, while the integrated AMPS pattern provides another installation option with compatible RAM mounting equipment. Choose a location with room for the radio, connectors, and cable routing, and plan a compatible GMRS antenna and coax cable separately. Rugged specifies the G4 for enclosed-cab installations; it should not be treated as an IP67 waterproof radio for exposed mounting.

FAQs
Does the G4 include an antenna and coax cable?
No. This package includes the radio, hand microphone, U-bracket, fused power cable, hardware, patch, and microphone bag. Select a compatible GMRS antenna and coax cable separately.
Is the Rambler G4 waterproof?
Rugged describes the G4 as a radio for enclosed-cab vehicles. For installations requiring full waterproof protection, Rugged directs buyers to the IP67-rated G1. Mount the G4 where it is protected from direct weather exposure.
Can it communicate with other brands of GMRS radios?
Yes. Rugged lists compatibility with other GMRS radios, including models from Motorola, Midland, and Uniden. Radios must use matching channels and compatible tone settings. It also supports FRS communication on shared channels 1–7 and 15–22.
Can I connect the G4 to an intercom or headset?
Yes, with the appropriate optional jumper and compatible equipment. The radio package does not include every cable required for an intercom or headset installation, so select the connection for the actual equipment being used.
What mounting options are available?
The package includes a universal U-bracket. The radio also has an integrated AMPS mounting pattern compatible with suitable RAM mounting equipment. Allow room behind the radio for connectors and cable routing when planning the installation.
