There’s something special about watching a customer see their finished buggy for the first time. After months of fabrication, assembly, wiring, plumbing, suspension tuning, and final setup, this turnkey rock bouncer was finally ready for delivery—and it absolutely turned out awesome. This build was designed around one goal: build a serious hill-killing machine with proven components everywhere.
From the massive V8 to the fully custom suspension and drivetrain package, every part of this buggy was selected to survive hard abuse while still delivering excellent drivability and suspension performance.
Big Horsepower, Proven Drivetrain
At the center of the build is a Ford 351W Stroker 461 producing 619 horsepower and 616 lb-ft of torque. Power is transferred through:
- PTC TH400 transmission
- Art Carr / Winters shifter
- NWF 205 Titan transfer case
The drivetrain combination gives the buggy:
- excellent throttle response
- durability under load
- proven off-road reliability
- strong low-range performance
To help keep temperatures under control during hard climbs, the buggy also features:
Heavy-Duty Suspension & Steering
Suspension performance is critical on a rock bouncer build, especially when running aggressive hill climbs and rough terrain. Combined with the lightweight aluminum links and Radflo suspension package, the buggy delivers excellent suspension movement while maintaining durability.
This buggy uses:
- WOD 7075 aluminum links
- 1.25” chromoly rod ends
- Radflo 14” & 16” remote reservoir shocks
- Radflo 2.0 bump stops
- Currie AntiRock sway bar
Built Around Serious Axle Strength
The drivetrain underneath this buggy is equally impressive.

- Ouverson knuckles
- Ouverson 40 spline shafts
- Ouverson hubs
- spool
- 4.88 gears
Rear axle:
- Dana 80

while WOD 1410 heavy-duty driveshafts and a WOD carrier bearing kit transfer power front to rear.
Interior & Cockpit
Inside the buggy, the build continues with:
- PRP GTSE seats
- PRP harnesses
- WOD steering column
- Longacre wheel
- WOD Hydroboost brakes
- Lazer Star lighting
- H3R HalGuard fire suppression
Built to Be Used
One of the best parts about this buggy is that it wasn’t built to sit in a trailer or become a garage queen.
It was built to:
- climb hard
- hit trails
- survive abuse
- and get driven
That’s exactly what Wide Open Design turnkey builds are all about.
