Brad’s Revolution 2.0 4-Seater | Built for the Long Haul
Some guys buy a buggy because it looks cool. Other guys buy one because they already know exactly what they want after years of wheeling, breaking parts, fixing things, and learning the hard way. That’s exactly where Brad Scoggins was at with this build. After years of wheeling his highly modified 4Runner, Brian was ready to step into a full custom buggy platform that offered:
- more capability
- more suspension
- better visibility
- more comfort
- and long-term reliability
The result became this custom Revolution 2.0 4-seat buggy built by Wide Open Design. In this video we walk through:
- drivetrain choices
- suspension setup
- why Magnum knuckles were selected
- Radflo suspension
- four-seat Revolution chassis details
- trail reliability goals
- overall build philosophy

Built Around Reliability
The drivetrain combination on this buggy was selected for one major reason: dependability. Power comes from a Mast Motorsports 416 paired with:
- TH400 transmission
- TH400 Winters Shifter
- Atlas transfer case
- PSC double-ended hydraulic steering
- Crane Magnum front end
The Mast 416 was chosen thanks to its horsepower, drivability, proven tuning and simplified speed-density EFI, all without needing complicated mass airflow setups or oversized intake plumbing. Combined with the TH400 and Atlas transfer case, the drivetrain package is extremely proven in aggressive off-road environments.
Magnum Knuckles & 14-Bolt Strength
One major upgrade Brad chose was moving directly into the Crane Magnum knuckle package rather than staying with traditional Dana 60 outers. The reason was simple: long-term ownership and reliability. The buggy features:
- Crane Magnum Knuckles
- Crane 14-bolt axles
- Crane Magnum Lightweight Brake Kit
- WOD Axle Truss
- 40 spline components
- Super Swamper SX tires
Suspension Designed for Trail Riding
The Revolution 2.0 chassis was set up specifically for comfortable trail riding while still maintaining excellent crawling capability. The result is a buggy that rides comfortably while still remaining highly capable on technical terrain. The suspension package includes:
The Retro Gold Finish
One of the coolest parts of this build is the color combination. Brad came into the project already knowing exactly what he wanted:
a retro-inspired gold finish with satin clear-coated panels. The final result gave the buggy a very unique look that stands out without feeling overdone. Combined with the four-seat Revolution chassis, the finished product feels equal parts trail rig, custom showpiece, and hardcore buggy.
Final Thoughts
This Revolution chassis build perfectly represents what happens when an experienced off-road owner works closely with a shop that understands real-world wheeling. Everything on this buggy was selected with long-term reliability, serviceability, and trail performance in mind. It’s comfortable. It’s extremely capable. And it was built to actually get used.
